To Patrick, Office of Research:

Thank you for speaking with me this morning and for referring me to the New London American Job Center. I did follow through on your suggestion and spoke with Uri, who was extremely helpful. I really appreciate your help, as well as all the assistance that I have received from the Connecticut Department of Labor.

To Ross, Employment Services Operations:

I wanted to let you know that after my résumé rewrite, my LinkedIn viewing statistics are up 51 percent.  I am now a student at a local college, recently applied for three positions in the Hartford area, and have joined a number of pertinent groups. All of this is due to your input and the Connecticut Department of Labor job fair.

To Ron, State Board of Labor Relations:

It was a pleasure to meet you yesterday and have you listen. I truly love my students and know that it takes a special gift to work with them and celebrate every gain they make. I want to thank you for your professionalism and the caring way you worked things out.

To Vencentia, Meriden American Job Center:

I wanted to take a minute to thank you for taking the time to help me with my career search.  I truly valued your input and advice on revising my résumé toward my actual career path. I also want you to know how much you have helped me in my search for a state position. I learned how to apply, create alerts and fill out the on-line application to start the process. With your help I feel more confident in obtaining a new position.

To Janice, Waterbury American Job Center:

On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank you for all of your help. This grant will give me the opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. I will pay it forward.

To Caroline, Nicole and George, New Britain American Job Center

The office received a call yesterday from a customer who went to great lengths to praise you for the service provided to her. Her comments could not have been more glowing. She had taken three of our workshops which she said were incredibly informative and used words such as, “amazing to describe the three of you. Nice job – you made an incredible impression and it is always nice to get these calls. She said she was so impressed that she felt she had to let somebody know how helpful you were.

Mike, Job Center Director

To Ross, Employment Services Operations:

I have a job offer and the paperwork starts flowing next week. I really owe the interview and the company reception to you. The interviewer was friendly and gave me feedback. You do a fantastic job!

To all the employees at Connecticut Department of Labor:

I am so grateful for the help you have given me. You all have been so wonderful to see after my claim and guide me through this difficult period. I jumped too quickly at a job last year after receiving benefits for several months and then lost that job after less than a year. I am now waiting and any day now shall find out if my part-time position will become permanent full time! You all have been so supportive and encouraging. I thank you for your dedication to take care of us.

To Aida, Claims Exam:

I wanted to thank you for your patience and guidance with my situation.  I appreciate that you helped me all the way through my case.

To Vencentia, Meriden American Job Center:

Thank you again for the outstanding presentation you gave on the Myers-Briggs Indicator test. You are knowledgeable and experienced in the subject matter and provided clear and easily understandable instruction, as well as interpretation of the results. I look forward to hopefully being able to attend your next presentation in order to verify this test and to gain further insight.

To Mark, Hartford American Job Center:

For about a year now, our company has partnered with the Connecticut Department of Labor to help fill openings at our offices here in East Hartford. The candidates we have selected that were provided by the Labor Department have proven to be sound additions and we expect many of them to be with us for a long time to come. This is largely due to the efforts of Donna, who has worked with us to match the right candidates with our openings. Donna is always willing to help and has a good understanding of the skill sets we need for our positions. We really appreciate that. We also really appreciate the agency’s support. We are in the process of hiring again, which is a nice position to be in. We look forward to continuing to work with DOL in our hiring efforts.

To Gary, Division of Wage and Workplace Standards:

Your Wage Enforcement agent, Peter, has been representing me in my case with an employer since June. He has been professional and persistent. The organization he dealt with was uncooperative, but he kept at it. My former employer wanted to pay a partial amount of what they owed me, but Peter called me today and went out of his way to get me my check. This money will help us out so much and I felt the need to let you know how much he went above and beyond to help me out. This is a wonderful reflection of your leadership and the team you have working there.

To Patrick, Office of Research:

You provided such helpful information in an entertaining manner. You are a very engaging speaker and your PowerPoint is a wonderful resource. Thank you for allowing us to post it on our college website.

To Shirley, Waterbury American Job Center:

I got a job! I must thank you for all you did to assist, mentor and coach me along the way. Your advice was invaluable, and I am truly grateful. I know you went out of your way to get my résumé critiqued, and it made a big difference.

To Aida, Claims Exam:

I want to say thanks for taking the time and truly helping me through my problem. You were patient and very knowledgeable.

To Commissioner Palmer:

I am writing to thank the Department of Labor for making available the Unemployment Compensation 101 class that David (of the Office of Program Policy) presented to our Community Services Coordinators. His presentation was clear and concise and his responsiveness to questions helped establish a relationship that I am sure will carry into the future, enabling us to better inform the public in our role as a “free and confidential information source.”  David is a representative the Labor Department can be proud of.

To Susan, Waterbury American Job Center:

I wanted to add an extra "thank you" this week. I am so grateful for the TAA program and the TRA funding, and the direction it is allowing me to go in with my life. I don't know where I would be without this opportunity.

To Sal and Michelle, Waterbury American Job Center:

When I think of the good things that happened at work in the last year, I think of all the help from you both, and the great programs we were able to offer our employees.

To Mark, Hartford American Job Center:

I was helped by some of your staff this past year and I am trying to reach out, to thank them and let them know how much they've helped me. The first person is Julie. I met her while taking a Myers-Briggs personality test. She is an expert on it. The next person is Gordon who is a former educator. I gave substituting a shot, and I believe I have found my life path. Thank you for your efforts.

To Karl, Janice, Anthony and Michelle:

I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for the time and effort you put into our recruiting efforts at your offices. It was a pleasure to work with each of you and I look forward to continued success in the hiring process at our company. During our visits at each location, you made us feel welcome and provided us with a nice area to meet with applicants.

To Marta, Waterbury American Job Center:

I started my new career as a production planner with a local company on December 1. I want to thank you for all of your hard work, assistance and support during this transition.

To Patrick, Office of Research:

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your presentation at the college. From all reports, you did a wonderful job and our students are very grateful. I reviewed your presentation and it contains a treasure trove of important information. Thank you so much.

To Carol, New London American Job Center:

I wanted to thank you for everything you have done for me. While on vacation I received a phone call from the executive director and we set up an interview for when I returned. I went to the interview and was hired!  I start work this Thursday. Thank you for all your words of encouragement and your caring manner. I especially want to thank you for encouraging me to follow this new career path, and to finally do something I love. I hope that you know that you make a difference not just in the job you do, but more importantly in how you do it. I hope that you print this so that maybe on days when it isn’t a “good day,” you can read these words again and remember that you truly make a difference!!
