Cuno Inc. Workers in Enfield and Stafford Springs Eligible to Apply for Trade Act Benefits

WETHERSFIELD, Approximately 34 workers from Cuno, Inc. a subsidiary of 3M Co., stationed in the companyís Enfield and Stafford Springs locations were certified on Jan. 16, 2009 as eligible to apply for federal Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA).  Certification also extends to on-site, temp workers of Coworx Staffing.  In addition to these workers, approximately 25 workers from the Cunoís Meriden location, including on-site workers from Coworx Staffing, were certified on Dec. 24 as eligible to apply for TAA benefits..  

The Connecticut Labor Department is mailing an eligibility notice regarding the benefits to all affected employees and is providing information on how to apply for benefits.  Employees eligible to apply for federal benefits are those who are, or will be, totally or partially separated from employment between Dec. 10, 2007 and Dec. 24, 2010 for workers of the Meriden location and between Dec.18, 2007 and Jan. 16, 2011 for workers from the Enfield and Stafford Springs locations.

Workers who qualify yet do not receive eligibility information are urged to contact their nearest Labor Department CTWorks Center for information and assistance.   

Available assistance may include training and income support in the form of Trade Readjustment Allowances, as well as job search and relocation allowances for qualified workers who seek or obtain employment outside their normal commuting areas.  In addition, health coverage tax credits may be available to individuals eligible to receive TAA income support. 

Those who need to apply for unemployment benefits are reminded that claims can now be taken over the telephone or Internet.  Information can be found on the Department of Laborís Web site at
